Philosophy of the Program

The program seeks to influence human development through holistic education and generation, acquisition, preservation and dissemination of knowledge and skills, with emphasis on Electrical and Control Engineering

Objective of the Program

The program aims at developing a skilled and dynamic electrical and control engineer with adequate knowledge to plan, design and construct electrical and control systems.

The graduates of the program will find career/employment opportunities in a wide range of industries / organizations including; production / process industries, research industries, space- craft industries, power generation and transmission industry, telecommunication industry, and healthcare industry. The program also provides a sound base for those graduates who aspire to be self-employed or/and advance in their academic career path.

Program Learning Outcomes

At the end of the program, the graduate will be able to:

1. Plan, design and construct electrical and control systems

2. Formulate and solve identified electrical and control problems.

3. Respond and adapt to changes in Electrical technology.

4. Communicate/transfer the acquired knowledge and skills.

5. Utilize the acquired knowledge and skills for gainful self-employment.

6. Proceed with further education.

Admission Requirements

All candidates admitted to the program must meet the minimum university admission criteria stipulated in the common university entrance regulations. In addition, the candidate should have the specific Faculty/Departmental requirements and Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) cluster combinations.

The candidate must have at least a C+ in the following cluster subjects.

Cluster Subjects

● Mathematics

● Physics

● Chemistry

● Either Biology or any group III, IV or V

● English or Kiswahili

Those holding qualifications equivalent to the KCSE or above from institutions recognized by Egerton University Senate may also be admitted.
